Vacancies

Serving on the board is a great way to keep connected to Peace Corps and it is also a lot of fun!

We are currently in need of a Vice President and a Newsletter Editor. Please see the position details below. If you are interested in either of the positions please complete the application and send it to info@milwaukeepeacecorps.org.

If you are unable to serve on the board, but are interested in supporting MPCA in another way, please let us know. We have numerous opportunities for folks to help at MPCA events, from helping set up, to working the registration table or bringing supplies.

MPCA Newsletter Editor

Duties:

  • Solicit (including pieces from current PCVs), write, and edit articles for MPCA newsletter
  • Coordinate inclusion of paid ads with treasurer according to guidelines set by MPCA Board
  • Produce and mail out quarterly newsletter according to established deadlines (6-10 pages)
  • Coordinate proofreading by at least one other board member prior to printing
  • Copy, stamp, label, and mail to current members (get updated and current labels from membership coordinator)
  • Arrange for newsletter to be added to MPCA website in coordination with webmaster
  • Attend monthly MPCA Board meetings and major MPCA events
  • Assist at the major events along with other board members

Qualifications:

  • Have experience using publishing software or desire to learn
  • Have strong writing and editing skills
  • Have access to computer for producing newsletter
  • Have available time to produce 4 issues of newsletter each year according to established deadlines

MPCA Events Coordinator

Duties:

  • Coordinate the details for the major social/outreach events using planning lists, delegating responsibilities and recruiting volunteers. This may include rental of venues. Note that other board members assist with components and may chair various events.
    • Parent and Family Brunch (October or November). Plan with regional PC office.
    • Ethnic Potluck (December-second Saturday)
    • Send-Off (Spring). Plan with regional PC office.
    • Summer picnic in park (Sunday in July or August)
  • Do promotion/reminders for events via listserv, website, newsletter, and any mailings (as determined by board)
  • Encourage members to plan and promote social activities through the listserv.
  • Attend monthly board meetings

MPCA Calendar Coordinator

The calendar sales generate a healthy portion of the MPCA budget and is a vital position in maintaining its financial health.

Duties:

  • Ordering the RPCV calendars from the Madison RPCV group
  • Contacting a few local businesses to offer them for sale (repeat businesses every year)
  • Maintaining tally of how many calendars sold and who has them for consignment
  • Working with the Treasurer to transfer funds
