The semi-annual Peace Corps Partnership Luncheon went off without a hitch! We raised $360 to donate to two current projects. MPCA matched the $360 donation for a total of $720 split between two projects. See the links below for information on the projects:
Peter is a volunteer from Wisconsin who is serving in the Dominican Republic. He will be receiving funds to help build a basketball and volleyball court in his town where there are not safe places for young people to play. The project will provide some much needed support for youth in his community. Find more information here.
Paxton A, of Colorado will receive funds towards their project Paraguay to build family gardens. The project will address nutritional issues by educating about farming methods resistant to the hot summer sun so that families can continue to eat fresh produce year-round. Find more information at Family Gardens in Paraguay.
Peace Corps Partnership events highlight the work volunteers are doing in the field and raise money to support specific Peace Corps Partnership Program projects. At each event, MPCA chooses a new geographical area to highlight. Money raised at the lunches/dinners go towards Peace Corps projects in the selected region and attendees can vote on their favorite project. The cost includes the donation and a delicious meal at the partnering restaurant.
